Also look at what I enjoyed reading and use their possibly credit their findings again. It also will help me to keep me organized in my writing. For example, the abstract is the summary of what the paper is about, and it will tell me exactly what a 7-page paper is in a summary, yell the title might give it away, but I could forget more details I researched.
It also helps me be self-efficient. It helps not create plagiarism, which will result in a bad grade, failing, or even kicked out of school. It is wrong to take others work, when they already did a great job with their own research. I don’t like to be a cheater or be cheated on.
Watching the video that was posted in announcements by Professor Lauren Mastrobuono, the new APA is much simpler. “It shortens the number of authors, different font options, much more organized and less confusing, now you can quote social medias, and YouTube.” (2020)
APA has to be the most confusing and frustrating format, but if you really think and push yourself to understand it, you will make mistakes but with being a psychology major, the papers you write I know you are going to want to know where you found the research for more details.
A reference page allows the reader to see on the last page where my sources used in my paper came from, they are listed on this last page in alphabetical order. Reference rules help and allow you to know how your body of text should look.
There are certain rules to follow such as, the reference list must be at the end of the document, must be centered, alphabetical order and such. All of these formatting tools will allow for me to write better papers by first off giving the writers credit and not plagiarizing since that is such an easy thing to do at times.
Referencing allows for one to use people’s words or thoughts but also give them the credit for creating it and it lets you incorporate it into your own writing without committing any misguiding.
Another great thing about having a reference page is that the reader can then find these same articles, books, power points, etc. by being provided with the actual source that includes the authors, name of the textbook, URLs, printing company and more. This process makes it easier for them to locate them for themselves.
The overall formatting of the APA 6th edition allows for one’s paper to be fully organized and made much simpler for the reader to get through and fully understand.
Using In-text citations will also provide my readers with the information on where the information came from. With providing those details, the reader can always look further into it, if interested. The reference page is a good way to provide my readers with the exact information as to where I received my facts from.
It is a way to give credit and respect to other people’s work. Last but not least, the reference rules allow me to write my literature review the proper way. It provides me with information on how to format my paper, how to put In-text citations, etc. Using the reference rules will allow me to have a very well-organized literature review that people can easily read and understand where my information is coming from.
I feel using APA format will help me to keep my papers organized and allow me to give credit to the sources that I have used to gather my information. Using in-text citations helps you give credit to the source where you include the writer’s quotation and help you not have to figure out where the quote came from.
abstract page will give someone a quick review of your paper without them having read all the pages and also good for other readers who may be looking for sources themselves the abstract will let them know what the paper is about beforehand so if it’s not the correct source they won’t waste time reading the whole essay.
At the end of the essay, you also have a reference page listing in order all the sources used which will help others find a source to get further information. This makes it easier for my college professor to read my work and make sure I do not plagiarise. APA format is created to make sure that my essays and or presentations, are consistent and in a clear organised manner.
Another reason on why it would improve my writing is to the other writers when credit is due, this helps with plagiarizing and allows you to use other people’s work (in your own words) without actually “plagiarizing”. APA 6th edition is also known for keeping peoples writing organized and not all over the place.
The APA 6th edition definitely makes a person more self-sufficient when they are writing their essays, the new format shortens a bunch of references that were once so long, making it easier for writers. APA in general is really complicated and personally I am not a fan of it, but once you get the hang of it becomes easier and easier, especially with this new edition.
