You are required to respond with depth, breadth and insight to the discussion question(s) as well as one of your class members. Your response to the discussion question(s) must be tied back to the chapter material and outside research is expected.
When I ask you to support your answer, you are expected to combine opinion with, minimum 2, citations, insight from your experiences, observations of others experiences, analysis of the facts/information and a conclusion. Please do not limit your citations to just the book! Find other supporting material outside of the class structure.
You are also required to answer the question posed by the instructor and class members. (Please note: The guidance outlined above will contribute to you “meeting the expectations” for the discussion. Additional participation will contribute to a grade that will “exceed the expectations” for the discussion

What are the core competencies or skills an HRD manager must have, and how are they acquired?
Nowadays, organisations are facing a very competitive environment in the global market, which has affected and HRD management. A business should think about strategies on how to achieve the objectives and to succeed in the marketplace.
Many challenges can occur in a daily routine or in long term which is always related with people issue, and “Human Resource Development (HRD) is the framework for helping employees develop their personal and organisational skills, knowledge, abilities” (Heathfield, 2020), motivation to face all those challenges to achieve the business success.
HRD has a role in developing and managing these human capital investments and will also have a priority to encourage employees to take advantage of any and all employer offerings, such as using tuition reimbursement to pursue higher education and to ensure human capacity current and future demand.
It is very crucial that an organisation has a very detailed plan and an organisational structure where to be explained HRD roles and competencies. According to Werner, “there are ten important areas of training and competencies of an HRD:
performance improvement, instructional design, management learning programs, integrated talent management, coaching, knowledge management, and change management” ((2017, p16). Thus, HRD management should have abilities to contribute in recruiting talent employees, learning strategies and employees training, increasing quality and efficiency which will help optimising the production and utilisation of the workforce.
According to Allahem, “the significant goals of human resource development are stated as below: 1. Access to organisation proficiency; 2. Increasing quality and efficiency; 3. Promotion in growth and individual development; 4. Integrating people into business” (2014). It is crucial that goals must be in approach with organisation’s goals and missions.
In addition, the essential core competencies of an HRD are personal, interpersonal, and business/management. The company is looking to have managers will high personal skills: high education, experience personal and professional integrity. HRD manager will drive the company to succeed in the marketplace.
As an interpersonal skill, communication is very crucial for an HRD manager who should deal with differences between employees’ personalities and upper-level management. Also, HRD management should apply strategic investment related to organisational growth, and to survive, the technologies change over time.
Its objective is to make employees more creative and to develop their new skills, knowledge, and attitude that can help to move the organisation forward.
