I have a lot of helper experience. I seem to be a helper once a week. For example, when my friend encounters some questions while seeking my opinion, I always don’t know how to answer. If I don’t answer well, I’m afraid it will affect their emotions. If I express myself, the answer will influence his decision and analysis.
Another friend of mine is lost in love, how can I sympathise with him. I believe everyone has a similar experience. Therefore, these problems have always existed in our lives and we need to understand how to develop counselling skills. In the past, I didn’t have the confidence to face customers.
I always follow the client’s ideas, but I want to be a qualified helper should have my own ideas. But now, I can deal with every problem they have. Through this whole course, I learned a lot of skills. When our friends, family, customers, colleagues need us, we can help them. When they lose themselves, we can help them find what they want most.
For me to be a peer counsellor, there are a lot of requirements, such as communication skills, listening skills, questioning skills, compassion skills. For me, I am a very incompetent person. I don’t like talking to strangers.
I don’t take the initiative to talk to them. I just think that communication skills are the best if I want to be a qualified peer counsellor It’s important, so I have to learn how to have a very good conversation with the customer. I also challenged myself through this course and I am proud of myself.
At the same time, listening is also a very important skill. In the process of peer facilitator and client dialogue, not only focus on the process of dialogue, but also listen and understand the client’s ideas. The helper must understand his thoughts better than the customer, so that there can be a smooth communication process. I think compassion is also very important.
By empathising with customers, you will feel that you will overcome difficulties with him, but you must master it when using helpers, because if you don’t master it, customers will think you Poor him, not sympathy with him, so this is also a very difficult skill.
I am a poor communicator, but the most important thing for a peer counsellor is communication skills. I feel a little shy and uncomfortable when I first start a simulation with a client. I am not at all how to do something as a helper, maybe this has to do with my personality and personal traits.
I am not a non-talkative person. In fact, I am a very cheerful person in front of my good friends. But in front of strangers, I feel like a person. I think I am a very good listener, but I am by no means a very good communicator and I lack self-confidence. But after many simulations, I found that I have improved a lot.
I know what I should do, what questions to ask, and how to understand the customer’s thoughts. It depends on how the customer thinks I should deal with him. I have enough confidence to face any problem, and I will have more confidence in the future.
I learned a lot of skill with how to become a good counsellor or helper during this quarter, peer counselling let me known why people should need our help, how should we help them. When our customers need us, what can we do to keep our customers’ interests to the maximum.
Through this quarter of study, my experience has become more abundant. I learned how to communicate, listen, understand, compassion, ask questions, think, retell, relax. I think one of the most important skills for me is to relax, because I am a poor communicator.
Every time I start a conversation with a client, I feel nervous and uncomfortable, so I must learn to relax So that I can proceed to the next step. So, I must learn how to relax. The book tells that Relaxation is especially important for guests with stress and anxiety issues.
A large amount of data shows that relaxing muscles can reduce anxiety and teaches customers to relax when they are anxious. When people relax, they are more open and able to process information, so relaxation is a good thing for helpers to teach before trying to implement other behavioural interventions.
In many cases, clients are always in a very anxious state, so this skill is very important to us. We must master this skill perfectly, so that customers can relax in very fast situations.
I have participated in four simulation tests, and each time I have given different feedback to my customers, and I will give some suggestions based on the dialogue between us. I think my shortcoming is that every time I give feedback, I always give some good things. I should focus more on some of the things we need to improve or do badly, so that I can make progress.
The feedback I received was facing the same problem. The feedback that my classmates gave me was all I did well, but the feedback I hoped to get is what I did poorly because I can find out my problem from the feedback. Which will make me better.
After I finish this course, I believe that I can be a good helper. This class is very helpful to me. I would recommend my classmates to study this course because it may change my daily life and Relationships with people around you.
I am studying economics, so this will have a great impact on my career development. This course has taught me how to learn communication skills. I am a person who is afraid to communicate with strangers, and I challenge myself.
In the future I will continue to learn some skills about this course myself, and I will buy some books on this subject to read. I believe that in the future I will help some people who need my help, and I will also become a qualified listener and consultant. I will also apply it to my future career, and I am lucky to take this course.
